This is a good article but I do think there are many who want to help but most do now know how. Our desire is to help but we do not have the space.
There are many empty locations around Orange where the facilities could be used for temporary shelters. There is the Adray building that has been sitting empty for quite a while. There is an empty building on Prospect and Chapman just filling up with dust and dirt becoming a menace to look at. There is a huge office building that has been sitting empty behind the hospital on Chapman and Yorba.I have personally called on two and they said several years back they would be used for something else.
Homelessness is becoming a reality on a daily basis here in this Orange bubble that we tend to live in. Today a woman in line for food asked me to make a recommendation for her on where she might get some work as a caretaker. She said someone was kind enough to let her use a room but in a few weeks she would be homeless. She was in her late 50′s early 60′s …what is she going to do? There is a way to help those who are willing to work but can’t if we work as a team and not so divided over issues that might be irrelevant and help people not be so dependent on the state system.
